House distribution programme in Hubballi on January 24

A home distribution program will be organized by the Karnataka government in Hubballi on January 24.
Addressing a preparatory meeting held in Dharwad on January 19 to review arrangements for the event, Labor Minister and district in-charge of Dharwad Santosh Lad said the landmark home distribution program under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare schemes.
The houses will be symbolically handed over to their beneficiaries in the program to be held on January 24 at 11:00 on Hubballi Mantur Road. A total of 42,345 houses were built in Karnataka. These will be opened and distributed starting January 24th. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and a host of ministers are expected to attend the event.
Mr. Lad said 2,169 houses have been approved in Dharwad district under the scheme. While 1,137 of these were built in places designated as ‘pucca’ houses, complexes consisting of 1,032 houses were also built. He said that around 3,000 beneficiaries from Dharwad district will be given title deeds during the Hubballi programme.
Housing, Endowments and Minority Welfare Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan said that out of 1,80,253 houses approved under PMAY in Karnataka, construction of 1,29,986 houses has been completed and 86,651 houses have been completed. He stated that in the first stage, 36 thousand 789 houses were opened and distributed to the beneficiaries, and the construction of 43 thousand 335 houses was continuing.
He said that out of 42,345 houses inaugurated and distributed during the Hubballi event, 20,312 houses belonged to SC/ST communities while the remaining 22,033 houses belonged to people of other communities.
Authorities in Hubballi have been told to expect around two lakh people from Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts at the event and arrange accordingly.
Chief Whip of the Karnataka Legislative Council Saleem Ahmed and KSDB Chairman and MLA Prasad Abbayya emphasized the need to ensure proper arrangements for transportation and food distribution during the event.
Deputy Commissioner and ZP CEO Bhuvanesh Patil and HDMC Commissioner Rudresh Ghali stated that 10 different committees have been set up to oversee the regulation.
Arrangements are being made in Hubballi
Another preparatory meeting was held with Congress party workers in Hubballi on the evening of January 19; here KSDB Chairman Prasad Abbayya, Ministers BZ Zameer Ahmed and Santosh Lad and others appealed to the workers to contribute in the smooth conduct of the event.
Mr. Prasad Abbayya said that a pandal to accommodate around 1.3 lakh people has been erected and other arrangements have also been put in place. Mr. Zameer Ahmed emphasized that the program is neither his personal initiative nor a party event, but a program dedicated to the poor and their development.
