1 killed in crude bomb explosion in Dhaka

The bomb was thrown from the overpass by unidentified people.
One person was killed in a crude bomb explosion in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Wednesday, police said. The explosion occurred in front of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command in Mogbazar Mor district. According to PTI, The Daily Star quoted Hatirjheel Police Station Inspector (Operations) Md Mohiuddin as saying that a crude bomb thrown from the flyover by unidentified persons hit a person who died on the spot.
The incident took place a day before the arrival of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Deputy Chairman Tarique Rahman, heir to the influential Zia family, who will return home on Thursday, ending his nearly 17-year exile in London. Home Advisor Lieutenant General (retired) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury had earlier said that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to maintain utmost vigilance and take high-level security measures. Authorities created a ‘double-layered’ security cordon combining state and party measures in Dhaka ahead of Rahman’s arrival.
