McDonald’s sealed off after suspected acid attack | UK | News

A police cordon has been established in Ashton city center following the acid attack outside McDonald’s.

The incident is believed to have happened outside the fast food outlet on Warrington Street at around 4pm on Friday, May 8.

A police cordon remains in place and emergency services are still at the scene, with the road closed to Bow Street.

Greater Manchester Police told the Manchester Evening News that two men were arrested on suspicion of assault following what was described as a ‘hazmat incident’. It was understood that a corrosive substance was used in the alleged attack.

Police confirmed a man in his 30s was taken to hospital.

“Emergency services were called to a business premises in Warrington Road, Ashton-Under-Lyne, at around 4pm following reports of a hazardous materials incident.

“A man in his 30s was taken to hospital and is currently being treated for injuries that are thankfully not life-threatening or life-threatening.

“Two men in their 40s and 50s were arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody.

“A scene remains in place and there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public.”

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue confirmed two fire crews were also involved in the incident.
