12 held for making derogatory social media posts against politicians

Kadapa police arrested a person for allegedly sharing a derogatory video against politicians and their family members. Chinna Chowk police registered a case against Bathalapalli Srinivas Reddy (42) of Badvel town in Kadapa district on November 3, 2024, following a complaint by TDP functionary Bojja Tirumalesh.
Police had issued a lookout notice to immigration authorities as the defendant fled to Kuwait; It was reported that the defendant continued to make Facebook posts in favor of a political party and against legislators, especially women belonging to the ruling party.
Srinivasulu Reddy was detained by security personnel when he reached Hyderabad airport from Kuwait on Monday. As per the instructions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, a team led by Deputy Superintendent (Kadapa Town) Rajendra Prasad rushed to the airport, detained him and brought him to Kadapa.
Srinivasulu Reddy, whose passport and mobile phone used to access his Facebook account were seized, was produced in court and later sent to judicial custody.
Eleven more people
Meanwhile, police arrested 11 more people for allegedly creating and forwarding offensive posts online using morphed images of Kadapa MLA Reddeppagari Madhavi Reddy.
A case was registered on the complaint filed by MLA’s wife and TDP polit bureau member R. Srinivasa Reddy in September this year. The police launched an operation to catch the suspect, caught him and brought him to the media on Tuesday.
The accused are identified as: Nelavala Srinivasa Reddy (44) of Kurnool, Gurramkonda Shaik Noor Basha (47) of Proddatur, Palem Pratap Reddy (44) of Aravidu, Shaik Nizamuddin (30) of Kadapa, L. Ramakrishna Reddy (34) of Peddamudiam, Shaik Mohammad Riaz (51) of Kadapa, Syed Imran Basha (32) from Rayachoti, T. Potti Venkataramana (42) from Ramapuram, Syed Ismail Basha (50) from Kadapa, Shaik Jabiullah (30) from Kadapa and Shaik Mudassar (25) from Kadapa.
Mr. Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath warned the public that misusing social media by posting derogatory and obscene content could land them behind bars.
