Speaking at the 16th National Voters Day event at the Ripon Buildings campus in Chennai on Sunday, Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said, “Even a thousand years ago, Tamil Nadu had the Kudavolai system to elect representatives of the people.”

The state level program was carried out under his leadership. Ms. Patnaik said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has adopted this year’s theme as “My India, My Vote”. He said officials at all levels were working to prepare a perfect voter list and ensure the elections went smoothly. Approximately 80,000 personnel have participated in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Certificates of appreciation and shields were presented to the students who were ranked in the competitions held on the occasion of National Voter’s Day, while Photo Voter Identity Cards were distributed to voters who registered for the first time and newly registered voters.
