Trump shares SNL UK skit portraying ‘scared’ Keir Starmer | UK | News

Donald Trump continued to mock Sir Kier Starmer after the US President shared a comedy skit that aired in the opening episode of the UK version of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Trump refrained from adding any words to his post when sharing the clip, but the skit showed Starmer appearing to be intimidated by the US President. Starmer has recently come under criticism from Trump for his perceived inaction on Iran, according to the US President, who continues to claim that the Prime Minister is “no Churchill”.

The 2.5-minute clip, which aired on Sky last night (March 21), showed the cast portraying the Prime Minister as someone afraid of Trump. “What if Donald yells at me,” says a nervous Starmer, played by George Fouracres, in one part of the clip. As the skit progresses, Trump grabs the phone, causing Starmer to scream in horror and hang up. He then says: “I just want to make him happy, Lammy. You don’t understand him as much as I do. I can change him.”

Later in the skit, Starmer admits that Liz Truss is “beyond me” before commenting on how she makes it look so easy.

Then-Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, played by Hammed Animashaun, speaks before appointing a “Generation Z advisor” to help Starmer engage Trump.

This prompts Starmer to leave Trump a voicemail; Trump references the popular TV show Friends as he implores the US President to “remember the good times”.

The premiere of SNL UK, hosted by US SNL legend Tina Fey, received mixed reactions but appeared to catch the attention of the US President, who continued to criticize Starmer.

Trump said Britain “needs to move much faster” on allowing America to use British bases to target Iranian missile sites that threaten the Strait of Hormuz.

Ministers agreed on Friday afternoon (March 20) that UK bases could be used for US “defensive operations to disrupt missile sites and capabilities used to attack ships”.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump said: “There was a very late response from England.

“I was surprised at how good the relationship was, but it’s never happened before. They were truly our first ally anywhere in the world.”

Last week, Trump said he “liked” the British Prime Minister but was “disappointed” with his recent stance on the conflict with Iran.

Trump later repeated his claim, “Unfortunately, Keir is not Winston Churchill.”
