2-year Central Deputation Mandatory for IPS officers of 2011 Batch Onwards for IG Empanelment: Govt

New Delhi: In an official order, it was stated that the government has made it mandatory for IPS officers of 2011 batch and thereafter to have at least two years of experience at the SP or DIG level in the central deputation for posting as inspector general (IG) at the Centre.

The move is aimed at ensuring that senior officers have sufficient ground-level working experience at the Centre, an official aware of the development said.

“At least two years of central experience at SP/DIG or equivalent level will be mandatory for posting IPS officers at IG/eqvt. level at the Center by 2011,” the ministry said in the recently issued order.

While a similar requirement existed for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers posted at the Centre, there was no such mandatory requirement for Indian Police Service (IPS) officers posted in the Central Armed Police Forces and other IG-level positions at the Centre.
