24-year-old man arrested for killing 70-year-old grandmother

Bannerghatta police on Saturday arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 70-year-old grandmother after months of arguments over her unemployment.

The accused, identified as Prajwal, a resident of KS Layout, killed his grandmother Gowramma at her home in Kenchagoravayyanadoddi near Bannerghatta to take care of her as her husband was away on business.

According to investigators, Gowramma had repeatedly pressured Prajwal, who dropped out of college, to find a steady job. Police stated that discussions often turned into arguments.

On Tuesday night, Gowramma was said to have talked to Prajwal once again about her future before going to bed. Police said Prajwal picked up a kitchen knife around 2 am and fatally attacked her while she was sleeping.

After the incident, Prajwal allegedly returned to his home in KS Layout, confessed the crime to his mother and ran away. He was later tracked to a hideout near Bannerghatta and arrested on Wednesday.

The police registered a case.
