Karisma Kapoor Makes a Comeback as an Alcoholic Sleuth

Karisma Kapoor, who was last seen in the intricate murder mystery Murder Mubarak, returns to familiar territory with another cop, this time in a much bolder avatar.

Produced by Zee Studios, Brown features Karisma as a jaded, alcoholic investigator. It is supported by a stellar cast including Surya Sharma, Jisshu Sengupta and Soni Razdan in important roles. The series signals a bold new chapter for the star, who broke into television at the peak of her career with Karishma: The Miracles of Destiny.

Adapted from Abheek Barua’s acclaimed 2016 novel City of Death and directed by Abhinay Deo, Brown is a tense investigative drama set in the atmospheric resort of Kolkata.

Kapoor takes on the role of Rita Brown, a sharp, world-weary and recovering alcoholic investigating officer from the city’s close-knit Anglo-Indian community who is tasked with solving the complex murder of a young woman from an influential family.
