5 hospitalized after helicopter crash in Huntington Beach
Five people were hospitalized after a helicopter crashed along the Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Details are still emerging, but initial dispatch information from the California Highway Patrol indicates the crash was reported near the Cars ‘N Copters on the Coast event area in front of the Waterfront Beach Resort around 2:09 p.m.
In the footage obtained by KTLA, the helicopter can be seen descending towards the street, then suddenly falling and landing near the road while the audience looked on.

According to a Huntington Beach police spokesman, there were two people in the helicopter and both managed to get out, and three people on the street were injured. All five were taken to hospital for treatment.
“The helicopter is connected to the Cars and Cops event planned for tomorrow,” city officials said in a statement. “The FAA and NTSB have been notified and the investigation is ongoing.”
Further details about the victims’ medical conditions or what caused the crash were not immediately released.
