670 Kudremukh Families Opt for Relocation, Says Karnataka Govt

Belagavi: Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Eshwar B Khandre informed the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday; Of the 1,382 families living in Kudremukh National Park (KNP), 670 expressed their willingness to relocate voluntarily.
Responding to MLA Araga Jnanendra’s call for attention under Rule 73, the minister said the government has already provided compensation to 356 families residing within the Kudremukh forest area. Of the remaining 314 families, the land valuation of 76 families has been completed.
Khandre added that the government provides maximum compensation to families opting for rehabilitation, covering houses, land and crops. Valuation is carried out in accordance with the notification of the Revenue Administration dated 18 April 2005.
