Charlie Kirk DM’d me before he was murdered. Here’s what he said
The day before he was killed in a terrible way, Charlie Kirk sent me a direct message to X.
He and I were going on to the public. The killing of a Ukrainian refugee and its relationship with the race.
He said that a white woman was killed by a black man terriblely motivated by only anti -white hatred. I Condemned these comments Founded in CNN. He went to the TV and condemned my notice. Then he forced my argument and released a tweet fire.
Kirk’s return led to an online torrent of racist death threats against me, which I rarely see.
Things were seriously going through rails.
Then – in the middle of all this – Charlie Kirk reached out.
Charlie Kirk’s amazing message
He invited me to come to his show to talk to him. He wrote:
“Hey, Van, that is, I want to be in my show to give a respectful speech about the crime and race. I know it will be.
A direct message to Van Jones the day before the conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed in a speech event. – Van Jones
Unfortunately, Charlie Kirk was killed before answering – Apparently assassination For oral words, the exact reasons of the killer are still being investigated.
With many of these words – sometimes strongly – I had problems, but never the right to talk to them. Never the right to express these views and then go to his family. This is a sacred American value.
Condemning the murder is not difficult
So it wasn’t difficult for me to condemn the murder – with unqualified and unconditional terms.
That afternoon I tweet:
“Today, the attack on Charlie Kirk is absolutely terrible and heartbreaking. There is no place for political violence in our society and those who are responsible should be rapidly delivered to justice. My prayers, Charlie’s favorite, traumatic students at Utah Valley University, and everyone affected by this emotional action.”
Political murder is wrong, the period. I was born in 1968 – to a country that was torn apart with uprisings and assassinations. I don’t want to go back to this. None of us should have.
Actually: Kirk’s murder gives us all the reasons for us to return to the table for dialogue. There is a tide of political violence that sweeps both the left and the right, life and others.
Violence like this should force people in both parties to refuse the heat, search for common ground and look for ramp from Vitriol-as he did the day before.
Charlie Kirk opposed censorship and ‘civil war’
But instead, the opposite is happening. People use their terrible assassination to call more violence – justify the murder and even call a civil war! The government uses it as an excuse to censor and silence its killing of officials.
Delay! Wait for a minute!
Charlie Kirk does not handle the dispute. Like hell.
When our public dispute began to go to the side, what was the response of Kirk?
He pushed for more conversations, not further silence or censorship.
He pushed for more civilization, not more hardness or poison.
Whatever you think of Kirk’s legacy, this is simple true praise – and this is something that everyone should support and try to reproduce.
If you are on the right, please do not give up open discussion and dialogue. Charlie didn’t. I will not. And I do the same defense to the people on the left.
Do not deceive violence
And no matter what side you are, don’t let you whisk to believe that political violence is a way. Let’s be real: Most people who called online murder and turmoil could not fight with a home fale. They treat the barricades like Badasses, who are ready to storm.
Not most.
And for value: You may think that we hate each other on TV and online. But mostly we don’t. We discuss a lot. We’re trying to win the election. Sometimes we annoy each other along the way.
But we don’t harm each other. We do not want more blood shed in our country. We don’t want any more funerals in America. Most experts and impressives do not try to lead to some kind of civil war. We only do our work and we fulfill our calls, we do our best. This is everything.
When things get out of control, they usually seek someone. We’re trying to talk. We look for repair. Because each of us just want to say our part and return home to our children. This is it.
Please – everyone – adopt a similar approach in your place and place. Let’s get off this scary way. “In Charlie Kirk’s words -“ it does not follow the subjects ”, let’s decide.
The right way to fight
For all our differences, neither Charlie nor I did not want to see that the other person was damaged or silenced.
On the contrary: I would like to defeat Charlie Kirk intellectually-by excluding it. I would like to see that the progresses beat him politically.
Both tasks would not be easy. Charlie Kirk was one of the best debates and organizers of our time. However, this would be the right way to deal with our differences.
This was what happened on the table when he texted me last week on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, a cowardly bullet robbed the conservatives of a rising talent, the progress of the family of a worthy opponent and a loving father.
After this murder, Americans have an option.
If we want, we can choose to go on the path of more violence, more anger and more censorship.
But if we choose censorship and civil war, we cannot blame this choice in Charlie Kirk!
From the last 24 hours, I have evidence that you want to go in a very different way.
