‘Dreamer & Disciplined’: Shubhanshu Shukla’s Lucknow Teachers Recall Fond Memories Of India’s ISS Astronaut | India News

As IAF group captain Shukla wrote history as the first Indian to enter the International Space Station (ISS), his teachers at Lucknow remembered the quiet, focused child, who once walked the school corridors and shared the memories of his early years because they prayed for safety and success in space.
As part of the Axiom Mission 4 (AX-4), Shukla launched in a Spacex Dragon spacecraft called ‘Grace’, and in 1984, he became the second Indian in space after Rajar Sharma flying into space.
The spacecraft was successfully placed in the Iss of the Model of ISS by marking one kilometer stone for India’s space travel today in 6: 31 am ET (16:00 IST) today.
Ians spoke to a few primary school teachers who barely contain Shukla’s pride and admiration.
Sunita Pandey, one of Shukla’s teachers, said, um I was very frequently interacting with him. It was very focused and disciplined. Going to space may not be the first dream, I believe that it developed during his time in his time.
Sweta Saxena, who taught him during the formatic years, said that he is always in the top 10 of his class, that science is his favorite subject, so he chose physics, chemistry and mathematics (PCM) for class 12.
“He focused on both work and sports. I really wish his success to continue.”
Archana Agarwal, who taught Shubhanshu from 6 to 8, remembered him as an inward but extremely creative student.
“He was a dreamer and disciplined child. Sports really excited him. It is great to see someone like him went to space. I am extremely proud.”
Another teacher, Apparna shared the following: “He was a multi -faceted person in primary school – very shy, still joined everything. After he was chosen for the axiom mission last year, he visited the school. We even discussed the strategies to improve teaching. I saw that he reached the stars.”

The AX-4 crew consists of commander Peggy Whitson (USA), pilot Shubhanshu Shukla (India) and mission experts Sławosz Uznański-Wisniewski (Poland) and Tibor Kapu (Hungary).
India is now celebrating not only the success of an astronaut, but also the inspiring story of a little town who knows that school teachers are always condemned to something extraordinary.
