Optus pledges full review as triple-zero deaths mount

Optus accepts responsibility for a series of faults where at least four people die, and promises to fully investigate a 10 -hour triple zero deduction.

Prime Minister Peter Malinauskas said he received a call to the Optus CEO before the problem was resolved.

“The lack of information flow to the appropriate officials of the Southern Australian government from Optus is a bit surprising and asks many questions,” he said.

Federal Communication Minister Anika Wells hit Telco because it did not take into account the suggestions of a review on the November 2023 deduction, where customers could not contact Triple-Zero.

Mr. Rue defended not to explain the interruption until Friday night at a SNAP press conference after a day after the determination and correction of the problem.

MS Wells questioned how the incident could reappear about two years after a similar deduction, and then a review described the problems that Optus should discuss.

“We are disappointed that it happened again, no three zero deductions are unacceptable and this will be investigated in a comprehensive way,” Wells said.

“Most of the things that occur in this deduction are the failure to apply some of these suggestions, including warning to public or emergency service officials.”
