South Sydney move to extend coach Wayne Bennett to at least 2028

South Sydney, at least until the end of the 2028 season, the senior coach Wayne Bennett took action to extend the contract.

Bennett, who was only seven months old, was told that he wanted to stay in Rabbitoh in the rest of the club’s career. The club will wait until the end of the season to start official negotiations.

Bennett said he wanted to continue to work beyond the current contract that ended at the end of the 2027 season.

Already in 2028, Papua Yeni Guinea franchise’s potential opening coach swam.

However, Rabbitohs, who have been influenced by Bennett about how the club has been galvanizing the club since last summer, want to stay in Cardinal and Myrtle, believing that it could lead them to a premiere in the next few years.

“Wayne and our staff did a tremendous job this season,” South Sydney General Manager Blake Solly said.

“We can also understand why [Australian Rugby League Commission chairman] Peter V’landys and the Commission want Wayne to be involved in Port Moresby -based new club.

“At the end of the season, we will sit with Wayne and talk about an extension. He is contracted until the end of the 2027 season. Hopefully, NRL wants to continue coaching beyond this point – and with Rabbitohs.”
