Woman dies in I-64 shooting, police say

According to a press release from Virginia State Police, a woman died on Wednesday evening after firing at York County at I-64.

The police said that almost no details were published about the shooting, but it was near the 242 -mile pointer in York County. State troops replied to the scene around 18:00

According to the state police, a 2024 blue Honda SUV fled the road and hit a railing just west of the 243 -mile pointer near Busch Gardens. The driver of the vehicle, an anonymous woman, said that he was taken to the Riverside Regional Medical Center where he died.

Police said that the I-64 lanes on the east of 242 miles were closed for several hours for the investigation. A traffic deflection is organized in Humeline Parkway and the drivers are recommended to call alternative routes.
