Albanese wraps up UN visit with Security Council bid

Australia will probably have to pour tens of millions of dollars to its campaign in the world’s best security organ.
Prime Minister Anthony Arbanese used his first speech in the United Nations to force the UN Security Council from 2029 to participate.
Donald Rothwell, Professor of International Law at Australian National University, will not be cheap.
AAP, “it will cost a lot of money,” he said.
The Security Council consists of five permanent members and ten rotating points. France, China, Russia, the United States and Britain always have the power to veto and have any decisions.
If Australia had joined the council, it would be a two -year period representing the “Eastern Europe and other countries” block, which includes Canada and New Zealand.
The three Western allies normally coordinate their offers to participate in the Security Council, but the federal government will probably have to campaign against Eastern European countries.
When Australia did this last, the lobbying effort cost about $ 25 million.
During the country’s period from 2013 to 2014, the Federal government helped coordinate the response to the fall of the MH17 flight by pioneering a movement to provide an independent investigation into the accident.
Government sources say they have not yet locked in a dollar figure for the upcoming campaign.
Prime Minister Anthony Arnavut used his speech to the UN General Assembly to breathe a new life for the offer of Australia, which began under former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop ten years ago.
He said that joining the committee is a valuable goal.
In his statement to the UN General Assembly, he said, “The United Nations is much more than an arena for the great powers to veto each other’s ambitions,” he said.
“This is a place for the global spotlight to shine on the pain and struggles that may be forgotten,” he said.

Professor Rothwell said that Australia should organize a strong campaign, and that the vote usually objected very violently due to the prestige of the seat.
“Inevitably sees a very important diplomatic effort on the Australian side,” he said.
Australia’s proposal, Albania’s visit to New York, held a long -awaited meeting with US President Donald Trump, lobbyed to ban children from social media and sat with a series of world leaders.
The Prime Minister will now visit England for talks about the Nuclear submarine agreement of Gaza and Ukraine Aukus.
