Oregon sues Trump over military deployment to Portland

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the deployment of 200 Oregon National Guard troops under Federal Authority, and the state filed a lawsuit that challenged the movement of military forces to Oregon, Oregon, operated by Donald Trump’s democratic authority.
On Saturday, the Republican President announced that they would be used to protect the federal immigration facilities against “domestic terrorists” and that they are planning to send troops to Portland, saying that they were authorized to use “full power if necessary”.
Trump’s military forces deployed to other municipalities led by Democrats, including Los Angeles and Washington DC, created legal difficulties and protests.
Oregon’s trial was opened on Sunday by the Democratic Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield against Trump, Hegseth and internal security secretary Noem in Portland on Sunday. The case accused Trump of overcoming his forces.
“Unquestioned, crazy hyperbolic excuse can not assign anything other than – the president, Portland ‘domestic terrorists’ under the siege ‘is a destruction of a’ city ” he says. The defendants thus violated Oregon’s dominant power to manage his own law enforcement officers and the source of national guard.”
The case said that protests against the Migration and Customs Protection Agency in Portland have been small and relatively involved since June.
Many people were arrested in Planegon in Plangon, who spoke to the six US official Reuters on condition of anonymity. On Sunday, hegseth signed a note that ordered 200 Oregon National Guard Units assigned under Federal Authority. Note was public as a commitment to Oregon’s case.
Pentagon did not respond immediately to the request for comments.
“It is not normal to send 200 national guards to protect a single building, Ray Rayfield said in a statement, apparently referring to an ice plant.
According to the preliminary data published by the Great Cities Chiefs Association in a violent crime report in the middle, violence crimes in Portland fell in the first six months of 2025. According to these statistics, it fell by 51 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Since he returned to the presidency in January, Trump has made a great focus of the crime, even if severe criminal rates have fallen in many USA.
In 2020, after the murder of a black man named George Floyd in Minneapolis by a white police officer, protests exploded in the Pacific Northwest Enclave city center. The protests were dragged for months, and some civilian leaders were encouraged instead of being questioned by Trump’s deployment of federal troops.
Trump’s warning that US troops could use “full power” on the streets of Portland, somehow it was unclear that it authorized the deadly power and, if so, it means under which conditions it was. US troops can use the self -defense in the distribution of US USA.
Portland Mayor Keith Wilson, like other Oregon officials, learned Trump’s order on Saturday on Saturday.
He clearly condemned the movement.
“This is an American city,” Wilson said on Saturday.
“We don’t need any intervention. This is not a military target.”
Many of Trump’s own Pentagon were caught unprepared.
One of the US officials said that the army focused on potentially deploying Trump to cities such as Chicago and Memphis, and said, “It was a blue bolt.” He said.
After a fire aimed at a migration and customs enforcement facility in Dallas, there were increased tensions in the Great US cities due to the aggressive migration pressure of Trump, after serious injuries of a prisoner and two other people.
