Aged care workers given fourth pay rise after FWC finding

Fair Labor Commission has given a prize increase for 400,000 workers in the sector, and a fourth wage increase for elderly care workers will enter into force on Wednesday.
The movement, registered as well as registered nurses, the most common level – an extra 60.20 dollars per week earns, while registered nurses will receive extra $ 62.20 per week.
Personal care employees will also increase an increase of $ 39.50 a week.
Amendments to the award made the government’s total sector expenditure close to 18 billion dollars after making a decision on a value case imposed by the Health Services Association in 2020 in the Fair Labor Commission (FWC).
Jim Chalmers said that the workers in the industry did a “incredible job ve and deserve consecutive wage increases.
“This investment accepts the great contribution of elderly care workers to our economy and our community, and will help you create a greater incentive to choose old care in the future for young Australians looking for a rewarding career,” he said.
FWC, a 3 to 13 percent increase for direct and direct care workers with an increase of 3 percent to 13 percent before making a final decision in July 2023, a 15 percent wage increase entered into force.

Some of these increases entered into force on 1 January this year and the remaining rise would be implemented on Wednesday.
Employment Minister Amanda Rishworth said that the FWC decision and the government’s movement are important steps to cope with the gender wage difference to meet the wage increases.
“Reducing the difference in gender wage was one of the main reasons why the government financed a 15 percent increase for elderly care carers,” he said.
“The Fair Labor Commission recognized the valuation of historical gender -based work in the elderly care and led to a significant wage increases financed by our government.”
