Every GP practice must now offer online booking

As of today, every GP application in the UK will have to offer online appointment reservations throughout the day.

The movement ordered by the government aims to be called ’08: 00 scramble ‘to reach the applications on the phone.

The service of the surgeries will have to offer 08:00 – 18:30 Monday – Friday.

In addition to requesting non -emergency appointments, patients may also ask questions and define symptoms and request recall.

Coming later British Medical Association (BMA) wanted to stop the promotionWarning that potentially serious health problems can be overlooked by some GPs and may cause patients to be damaged.

The Association of Doctors called on “a potential online triaj tsunami” and if the staff struggles to address the number of patients, they called on more assurance, such as allowing applications to temporarily close the online reservation mechanism.

On Monday, he said he would consider the industrial action in the form of a work-work if necessary.

However, the ministers decided to continue with the plan, arguing that they provided financial support to allow GP practices to introduce new measures.

Many applications have already offered this option for years – but some of them turn off in heavy periods.

Currently, approximately 6 million appointments per month are reserved online – approximately one of the total.

Care Minister Stephen Kinnock said: “We promised to make it easier for patients to access the GP applications at 8 in the morning – and that’s exactly what we do.

He continued: “We bring our analog health service to the digital age, we give more selection and comfort to patients. We have learned from the GPs that have already offered this service and collect prizes.”

This is the second big digital announcement this week Prime Minister announced plans for NHS Online – Virtual Hospital Service – at the Labor Party Conference on Tuesday.

Digital innovation was one of the basic themes of the 10 -year NHS plan described during the summer.

The government said it has invested extra £ 1.1 billion to support this movement.

The government argued that online GP reservation would help to evacuate telephone lines and alleviate the pressure on A & E units for those who need to be urgently to a doctor. Research shows that patients are more likely to return to A & E when patients struggle to reach the GP.

NHS, according to the UK’s GP Patient Survey, currently more than half of patients reported that it is easy to pass on the phone.

The government said that the amendment was decided by BMA in April as a part of the government’s reforms in the GP Convention.

NHS from England. Amanda Doyle said: “This step will help modernize the general practice by making the online access as easy as calling or walking to your application, making the phone lines exist for the most need for those who need them and triggering patients based on clinical need.” He said.

Jacob Lant, General Manager of Patient Guard National Voices, said, “Online reservation systems are a fundamental building block of the 21st century NHS, but so far the application is annoying.

“The best GP applications have shown what is possible. It is true that primary care is under tremendous pressure, but the answer to the management of demand should use these digital systems more effectively.”

Applications also need to publish a new patient charter called “You and GP” on websites – patients tell patients what they can expect from their applications and how to give feedback or how to increase concerns.
