Eurail traveler’s review of food, shops and security

Milan Centrale, Milan
Journey
To reach the Middle Lake in North West Piedmont via Milan to Orta-Miasino via Novara. In the first leg, the RV 2024 train is a 39 -minute journey operated by the region by Veloce, almost 45 kilometers.
Separation
Milan Centrale may be the second largest station in Italy after the Roman Termini, but this architectural Casanova is by far the most handsome. Completed with neoclassical statues of poultry horses and an old clock tower, the imposing stone façade was designed in the early 1900s and inspired by Caracalla Roman baths. Inside, the crowds of departure are worthy of the film set: a rising area with marble and travertine stone walls decorated with arched glass ceilings and mosaic and reliefs.
I travel with a medium -sized suitcase and a small transport because I arrive at the entrance of Piazza Luigi di Savoia with a taxi about 35 minutes before my departure. The crowd is located at two levels, but it takes some time to find the escalators in the depths of the lower hall with insufficient signboard. The station has luggage storage facilities and a lower level of reservation machines. If you are traveling in more than one country in Europe, I made my ticket as part of the seven -day Eurail Pass, which is a convenient option, through the railway planner application.
Security + Security
It’s busy but not suffocating. At the same time of the year, I feel much less chaotic than the Roman Termini and see minimal police or security. However, I am aware of the fact that I am the luggage of luggage, including my zipper hand bag that I regularly check for. There is access to vine and high -level shops where the trains are separated.
Food + drink
The closed market has various tradesmen meters that sell everything from Mercato Centrale, Salad and Fruit Water to desserts and Spritz varieties such as peanut cannoli. I prefer a Panini, the package service of Marul and Grana Padano Crema and Truffle Mortadella; It has an excellent focus / filling rate and travels well. I am attractive by the “China Ravioli” innovation.
Retail therapy
Almost everything can be purchased from Milan Centrale. Shops, mostly chains, are scattered to all levels of the station: Kiko Cosmetics, Crocs, La Feltrinelli Express bookstore – even Boots Pharmacy and Medical Center spying.
Time -time
There is a lot to occupy you on your feet, but unless you eat in a seating restaurant, there are a few places to sit in the departures. Most people are standing or sitting on the floor. I agree with them, and I stand next to the Concourse doors until the platform of my train appears on the board.
Boarding
The trains are separated from the upper level and people get crowded around the doors that lead to 24 platforms. My train is at 12.15 and there is still a platform that is still assigned with 12.05. There are two staff who help at the doors. When I scan my QR code, there is a technical problem with my transition, and I am told to see the man at the last door, which allows me to be thankful. This is a stressful start, but I make the train after running to my platform and taking my bags to the ship.
Decision
The first time to navigate for the first time is not the station, but with perfect, authentic food options and plenty of architectural eye sugar, it sounds like going back to the golden age of the train trip.
