Waterloo station LIVE: London chaos as trains cancelled after passenger’s death | UK | News

London Waterloo station faces great delays with passengers who are prevented from reaching the building after a person was killed near Wimbledon. Significant delays and cancellations affected the South West Railway (SWR) services between Wimbledon and Woking after an incident in which a person had died on the tracks at Surbiton Railway Station. Met police, London ambulance service and London Fire Brigade Run to the station, but the person was killed at the scene.

After the emergency services responded to the incident and closed the electricity that gives power to the trains in the area, all lines between Wimbledon and Woding were blocked. As a result, no train could pass through the affected part of the network. SWR warned passengers to expect cancellation, delays and potential changes on the routes. Although the lines are now reopened, SWR ‘big deterioration’ is expected to continue until the end of the day.

British transport police spokesman said: “Officers today (3 October) Surbiton train station on a wounded reports were called at 15:00. Officers responded to the medical officials, but unfortunately a person died at the scene.
