Children injured as Russian strikes hit trains in ‘savage’ attack | World | News

Dozens of people were injured at a “wild” Russian drone strike at a train station in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at least 30 people were injured in the Shostka attack, a city about 40 miles away from the Russian border. According to Oleksandr Pertsovsky, the president of Ukraine’s national railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia, three children were among those who were taken to hospital.

Mr. Zelensky said: “A wild Russian drone strike at the train station in Shostka in Sumy … The Russians could not be aware of the collisions of civilians. And this is the terror that the world should not ignore.”

Russia quickly hit two passengers. Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said that the first hit a local service and the second hit a train connected to Kiev. Mr. Zelensky wrote on social media: “All emergency services have already started to help people at the scene and people. All information about the wounded is being established.”

Serhii Koretskyi, General Manager of Naftogaz, said that the attacks were not a military purpose on Friday. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydeno accused Moscow of “terrorizing civilians”. Moscow claimed that strikes targeting Kiev’s facilities that support Kiev’s war efforts.

The Ukrainian army reported that Russian forces started 109 drones and three other ballistic missiles overnight. He said 73 of the drones were shot or pushed the route.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Ukrainian army reported that Russia had shot one of the largest oil refineries. He said that a drone strike caused explosions and fire at the Kirishi refinery near St Petersburg, 745 miles away from the Ukrainian border.

The refinery, operated by Russian oil major Surgutnefttegas, produces 355,000 barrels of crude oil per day and is one of the first three of Russia with its output.

Telegram news channels from Russia and Ukraine, published videos that were said to have been sent by the locals near the city of Kirishi. They show drone -like objects that whisper against the sky, illuminated by an orange glow for exploding thunder in the background.
