Podiatric surgeons to get new title of surgical podiatrists after patient confusion

David Lunz, former president of the Australian Orthopedics Association’s foot and ankle society, said that patients would still be misleaded with a new title and would be more accurate.

“There is some evidence that some procedures performed by a small number of podiatric surgeons are safe or acceptable. Some patients have suffered significant damage,” he said.

The title change was one of the 14 suggestions for registration, training, title, advertising, complaints for podiatric surgeons.
