A recent interaction between Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray has raised the possibility of a pre-major alliance ahead of civic elections in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said on Monday, October 6, 2025, that the meeting was political in nature and discussions were progressing.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Raut said the two leaders agreed to explore collaboration in major municipal corporations including Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Nashik and Pune.
“There are several civic bodies where Shiv Sena (UBT) has a strong presence, MNS is influential in others. NCP (SP) and Congress are also swinging in different regions, especially in Vidarbha. The personal and political relationship between the Thackeray cousins has grown stronger and their talks have progressed significantly,” he said.
He said the next mayor of Mumbai will be a Marathi leader with true saffron values who will not bend before Delhi.
Heart and Mind Alliance
On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the Cousins gathered at the naming ceremony of Mr. Raut’s grandson in Bandra. Following this, Mr. Raj visited Matoshri, the residence of Mr. Uddhav.
Mr. Raut said, “This alliance is forged with both heart and mind and it is more than just a political arrangement. It is a partnership built by a partnership.” tanning (body), Mann (mind) and dhan (money). Together, the alliance wants to work for the welfare of farmers and people who are suffering under the poor leadership of the Mahayuti government. ”

On the possibility of MNS joining Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), he said the decision was up to Raj Thackeray. “While MNS remains an independent party, it maintains cordial relations with MVA leaders. MVA has been formed for the state assembly. A new strategy will be designed for civic polls,” he said.
Elections to various municipal corporations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), are expected to be held by the end of the year.
During Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit, he asked, “Why isn’t Amit Shah visiting Marathwada? Why is this government afraid of meeting the grieving farmers? Are they afraid of their questions? Is it a crime to arrest Sonam Wangchuck for a peaceful protest?”
