DPD drivers take action in row over payments

Delivery firm DPD may encounter any disruptions in its services after a three -day action in a dispute on payments.

It was time to see that 1,300 drivers refused to work for three days after saying that the DPD had reduced the amount paid for the delivery of small parcels to 65p. A driver told BBC that it could cost about £ 6,500 per year.

The low ratio applies to self -employed or franchisees with majority of DPD drives.

DPD, drivers’ action on the services of the “significant impact” does not expect and larger parcels for the delivery of wages increased, he added.

A few drivers told the BBC that only a few hours of notification was given before the cutting into force in late September.

DPD, “some of our proportions to reflect changes in our parcel traffic profile,” he said.

He said that the driver stops containing only smaller parcels would see a 65p decrease.

DPD, larger parcels or high -valuable or pharmaceutical parcels stops will not see any changes, heavier deliveries will receive extra 65p, he said.

The company also brought new incentive payments “designed to increase earnings throughout the year.”

“As a result, we believe that our driver’s fee package is among the best of our sector.” He said.

However, a driver said that changes would reduce income about £ 25 or about £ 6,500 per year, which would “make it difficult to manage household costs.

Another driver said that even compared to increasingly for larger parcels, it was not a “way to compensate for the losses caused by 65p.

“We can’t get so large parcels to compensate for the loss caused by the ratio of smaller parcels.” He said.

“And even if we buy larger parcels, we’d have to work longer and make more stops to win the same amount as before cutting.”

Drivers in the action will refuse to deliver parcels on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

DPD said: “We acknowledge that some drivers expressed their concerns about new regulations and that they are handled.

“However, few drivers in various warehouses have chosen not to operate today. We do not expect this to have a significant impact on our service.”
