Beyond payments: Paytm to integrate AI across offerings, plans AI-led brand after intelligent soundbox launch

Financial Services Giant Paytm plans to integrate AI across all its offerings, founder and managing director Vijay Shekhar Sharma said at a conference in Mumbai.
During an interaction at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF), Sharma stated that the company plans to bring in an AI-focused brand name to suit the integration. “Paytm in 2025 is all about AI innovation. We may also look at an AI-led brand name as Paytm reflects more on financial services,” Sharma said on Tuesday.
Sharma was alluding to how the US has surpassed India in terms of AI innovation. “There is a gushing wind of AI innovation in the US, while in India the pace is much slower,” he said.
He later announced on the sidelines that the company would launch a separate brand identity for its AI-led vehicles. “Just like Amazon has Prime for its premium offerings, but Prime is now a standalone brand. That’s the plan,” he added.
He added that Paytm now wants to expand the use of AI and include it in all its products and services. “Not every business may have a CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and CTO (Chief Technology Officer), but every business needs assistants. AI in Paytm’s offerings will do that,” he added.
AI Tools
Paytm is launching new AI tools on the fringes of GFF in Mumbai. Along with the exchanges, PayTM earlier on Tuesday launched India’s first AI-powered payment device for merchants, Paytm AI Soundbox, turning the traditional sound box into a smart business assistant.
The device offers real-time payment summaries, insights and financial intelligence in 11 local languages and supports QR, Tap and card payments over 4G and WiFi. Paytm plans to expand its AI-driven product line to further simplify merchant transactions.
This comes after the company turned a corner in the first quarter of fiscal 2026 after a period of losses a year ago.
