UK PM Keir Starmer Arrives In Mumbai For First Official Visit | World News

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has come to Mumbai on Wednesday morning for his first official visit to India since he took office. The two -day trip, which British authorities call the “trade mission”, focuses on strengthening the trade and strategic ties between England and India.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer, CEOs of leading British companies and senior executives, as well as a delegation of representatives of leading universities and institutions came to Mumbai. British Trade and Trade Minister Peter Kyle and Investment Minister Jason Stockwood are accompanied by him.

This important visit took place just a few months after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the UK, in which both countries signed the long -awaited trade agreement in July 2025. This also takes place at a time when both countries review the commercial relations with the United States under President Donald Trump.

Prime Minister Starmer on Thursday, October 9, will meet Prime Minister Modi at Mumbai Raj Bhavan. According to the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), they will discuss the progress in India-UK comprehensive strategic partnership within the scope of Vision 2035 road map, which is a ten-year plan covering trade and investment, innovation, defense, climate, health, education and ties between peoples.
Leaders will also meet business world and industry leaders to talk about the opportunities offered by the Indian-United Kingdom (CETA), an important part of the future economic partnership. Mea said they would exchange views on regional and global issues.
Starmer and Modi are expected to participate in the 6th Global Fintech Festival in Mumbai and to meet with policy makers, business leaders and innovators from around the world.
Mea said that the visit would increase the acceleration obtained from the visit of Prime Minister Modi in July 2025 in July 2025 and offer the chance to strengthen the common vision of India and the United Kingdom for a forward -looking partnership.
