UK festival dumps 7000 litres of beer after storm Amy

Organizers of Edinburgh Oktoberfest were forced to throw away 7,000 liters of beer after events were canceled due to Storm Amy, which devastated Scotland last week.
The annual festival, featuring German beer, food and live music, would take place in a large tent in a park from Friday to Sunday.
However, on Friday evening organizers announced that the park’s closure “due to extreme weather conditions” meant Friday and Saturday’s events were cancelled.
Storm Amy brought heavy rain and winds of up to 100 mph to Scotland from Friday until the weekend, causing widespread disruption to transport and electricity networks.
On Monday, festival organizers said the event would be rolled over to next year and ticket holders would be contacted via email.
“We were not prepared for this, we had no insurance and now we have to destroy 7000 liters of premium beer, thousands of sausages and schnitzels and much more. I wish we could distribute this to all of you,” the email said.
“But let’s fight against the wind together. Next year we’ll bring fresh beer and have the best party ever with you all.”
