OG Falls Short of Optimal Mark in AP, TS Despite a Long Run

Having achieved sensational openings, Pawan Kalyan’s much-hyped action drama OG has crossed the 100-crore mark in Telugu states, once again confirming the star’s big box office hit. “The gangster drama has collected around ₹129 crore share so far, but it still needs to earn more to reach the break-even point in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” says a leading distributor. “The film has sold for around ₹145 million in the Telugu market and is gaining momentum,” he adds.
However, during the Dussera holiday season, OG faced unexpected competition from Kantara Chapter 1, which attracted a significant portion of the festival crowd. “Kantara ditched OG and took advantage of the holiday rush to bag collections that would have otherwise boosted OG. In fact, Rishab Shetty’s supernatural thriller managed to overshadow Pawan throughout the festival weekend,” the source said.
Despite his thin script, Pawan Kalyan managed to keep the audience engaged with his screen presence, charisma and stylish action. The distributor concluded, “Pawan has once again proven that his fan base remains intact. He just needs a stronger script to surpass his contemporaries like Prabhas, Allu Arjun and Jr NTR at the Telugu box office.”
