Brits looking to cut household costs and increase their Nectar balance are in luck; Sainsbury’s is offering thousands of bonus loyalty points to anyone who switches their gas or electricity to its new Energy Track and Reward tariff. Shoppers can earn up to 8,000 free Nectar points by switching to Sainsbury’s Energy’s new energy tariff and benefit from a two-year price guarantee that ensures bills don’t exceed the Ofgem price cap.

Within the scope of the Track and Reward tariff, customers can earn up to 6,000 bonus Nektar points per year, 1,500 points per quarter, by staying on the tariff. On top of this, new and existing Sainsbury’s Energy customers who sign up to a 24-month fixed deal will earn 4,000 points per fuel; up to 8,000 Nectar points for dual-fuel homes.

Shoppers on the tariff will also enjoy double or triple Nectar points every time they shop in Sainsbury’s stores; This means regular customers can see their rewards balance grow even faster.

Sainsbury’s Energy said customers “will never pay more than the price cap” and there will be no exit charges for leaving the tariff, regardless of how energy markets move.

A spokesperson for the company said: “You can earn up to 6,000 bonus Nectar points each year, as well as double or triple Nectar points on your purchases.

“And when you switch to a Sainsbury’s Energy Track & Reward tariff, you’re guaranteed to never pay more than the cap price.”

You’ll need a residential gas or electricity account with Sainsbury’s Energy to get the offer. Your energy bill is calculated by multiplying the daily flat rate by the number of days in your billing cycle, plus the unit charge for the amount of energy you use. Discounts are then deducted and VAT added.

You will receive your Nectar points after your energy supply starts and your account becomes active. Be sure to provide your Nektar card number when signing up; If you forget or enter incorrect information, your points may be delayed. It may take up to 30 days from your supply start date for points to appear in your account.
