New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted on at least one count of bank fraud by a grand jury in Virginia on Thursday following evidence presented by a prosecutor hand-picked by President Donald Trump. MSNBC reported.
James has been a longtime foe of Trump.
Lindsey Halligan, the same prosecutor who obtained the indictment, also recently filed criminal charges against another of Trump’s foes, former FBI Director James Comey.
CNBC has requested comment from James’ lawyer, Abbe Lowell, as well as from Halligan and James’ offices.
James previously sued Trump in a civil lawsuit in New York that led to him and his company being held liable for business fraud.
