Joe Biden, 82, receiving new treatment after ‘aggressive’ cancer spread to his bones

Former President Joe Biden will undergo radiation therapy to treat an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
The 82-year-old man will receive treatment in addition to hormone therapy, a spokesman for the politician announced on Saturday.
The radiation will last five weeks, and the Democrat has already started taking the hormone medication pill.
Patient Biden announced in May that his cancer had metastasized to his bones. He had been treated for skin cancer last month and was seen with a large bandage on his forehead when he appeared in public.
The May announcement came just a week after reports emerged that Biden had a ‘small nodule’ on his prostate that required ‘further evaluation’.
His office said the ‘small nodule’ on his prostate was discovered during a ‘routine physical exam.’
The statement made about his diagnosis at the time said: ‘President Joe Biden was seen for signs of a new prostate nodule after experiencing increased urinary symptoms.
‘He was diagnosed with prostate cancer, defined by Gleason Score 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to bone.’

Prostate cancers are given a ‘Gleason score’, which measures how cancerous cells look compared to normal cells. Biden’s score of nine indicates his cancer is among the most aggressive.
His office noted: ‘Although this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone sensitive, allowing for effective management.’
Biden, who will turn 83 next month, left office as the oldest serving president in US history and was also named the oldest person to hold the highest office.
It is common for older people to experience prostate problems. According to the American Cancer Society, more than half of prostate cancers occur in men over the age of 65.
A nodule is a hard lump or swelling that can develop on the body. While they can be benign and harmless, some can be associated with larger health problems, such as infections or, in this case, cancer.
Questions about the former president’s age, health and fitness for office ultimately led him to abandon his re-election campaign and hand over the job to 60-year-old Vice President Kamala Harris.
Leaders within the Democratic Party have begun to publicly acknowledge that Biden should not run for re-election in 2024. Some claim they were duped by advisers who shielded Biden from the public and told party members he was available behind the scenes.
Sources told Washington Post It is stated that Biden remains angry about withdrawing from the 2024 race and regularly argues with his team about responding to President Donald Trump’s actions and policies.

According to The Post, Biden has been working on a memoir and a foundation that will build a presidential library since leaving office.
Biden’s son, Beau Biden, also died of cancer in 2015 at the age of 46, after he was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, the most aggressive type of brain cancer, in 2013.
His father claimed that the cancer was a result of Beau’s exposure to military burn pits while serving in Iraq.
