Actress Diane Keaton dies at the age of 79
Actress Diane Keaton rose to fame after starring in ‘The Godfather’ and collaborating with Woody Allen in ‘Annie Hall’.

Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin and Jane Fonda were among the many stars who honored Diane Keaton following the legendary actress’ death at the age of 79.
On Saturday, Keaton’s death was reported by People magazine, which said his family had requested privacy.
After news of Keaton’s death broke, the Hollywood legend was showered with tributes from his former co-stars and other celebrities.

Hawn, who starred alongside Keaton and Bette Midler in the 1996 hit comedy “The First Wives Club.” emotional post on Instagram.

Hawn wrote alongside a photo of Keaton: “Diane, we are not ready to lose you. You left us a trail of pixie dust full of shards of light and unimaginable memories.”
She continued: “How will we say goodbye? What words can come to mind when your heart is broken? You never liked praise, you’re so humble, but now you can’t tell me ‘shut up’, honey. There has never been and there will never be anyone like you. You stole the hearts of the world and shared your genius with millions, making movies that made us laugh and cry in ways only you can.”

“It was my pleasure to produce ‘First Wives Club’ with you, from our days drinking coffee, laughing and joking in the make-up trailer to the last day of shooting,” Hawn added. “It was a love train.
“We decided to grow old together and one day maybe live with all our girlfriends,” Hawn wrote. “We never actually lived together, but we grew old together. Who knows… maybe in the next life.
The Academy Award winner concluded: “Shine your fairy dust there, girl. I’ll miss you so much. My heart goes out to your beautiful children, Dex and Duke.”

Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenburgen and Don Johnson, who starred with Keaton in 2018’s “Book Club” and its 2023 sequel “Book Club: The Next Chapter,” also shared their praise.

“She was always a spark of life and light, constantly laughing at her own foibles, endlessly creative in her acting, her wardrobe, her books, her friends, her homes, her library, her worldview,” Fonda continued. “He was unique. And although he didn’t know it or admit it, he was a very good actor!”
“Diane was magical,” Steenburgen wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital. “There was and will never be anyone like him. I loved him and felt lucky to be his friend. My love for his family. What a wonderful thing it was!!!”
Bergen also wrote in a statement to Fox News Digital: “This is a tremendous loss, both personally and for all of us. Diane was a true artist; extremely talented and uniquely gifted in many disciplines, yet also humble and wonderfully eccentric. I will miss her greatly.”
“Diane Keaton…what a ride!” Johnson said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “She was one of those unique actresses who once realized a character you couldn’t imagine anyone else interpreting. I loved her… I’ll miss her.”

Martin, who played Keaton’s on-screen husband in the popular 1991 comedy “Father of the Bride” and its 1995 sequel “Father of the Bride II,” which also starred Martin Short, shared a humorous remembrance of the actress by posting a screenshot of excerpts from a joint interview with his co-stars.

Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who played Annie Banks, the daughter of Martin’s George Banks and Keaton’s Nina Banks in the “Father of the Bride” movies, commented, “I can totally hear you saying that,” adding a crying smiley face emoji to the “Only Murders in the Building” star’s post.
Williams-Paisley also shared own Instagram tribute Keaton posts photos of himself with his on-screen mother.
“Diane, working with you will always be one of the highlights of my life,” Williams-Paisley wrote in her caption. “You are one of a kind, and it was exciting to be in your orbit for a while. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, talent, and most of all, your laughter.”

Mandy Moore, who played Keaton’s character’s daughter in the popular 2007 romantic comedy “Because I Said So,” honored the actor, recalling their time working together on the film.
“They say don’t meet your heroes, but I worked with one of my heroes and even got to call her ‘mom’ for a few months,” Moore recalled in the title An Instagram post featuring photos of the duo from the movie.
“It’s the honor of a lifetime,” he continued. “Di was and is such a dazzling person. I’m so sad she’s gone for all the reasons but also because she feels like she’ll be here forever, she’ll dazzle us with her talent and charm (and style, come on)!!! One of the best to ever make it. Love to her kids and loved ones.”

One Instagram post, Melissa Joan Hart shared her shock at Keaton’s passing and offered tributes to the late actor.
“There are some people you think will live forever, and hearing that Diane Keaton passed away today took my breath away!” he wrote. “His work, his class, his style, his ability to be extremely talented and his ability to keep his private life out of the tabloids is something that should be respected and studied for generations.”
“Thanks for the laughs and tears!” he continued. “I’ve enjoyed every movie I’ve seen with her, from #BabyBoom to #SomethingsGottaGive, but I must admit I’ve never seen #AnnieHall. Now I know what to do this weekend! #GodBlessFunnyPeople.”

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences paid tribute In the Instagram post, Keaton shared a clip of an emotional scene between the late actor and his on-screen son Dermott Mulroney in the 2005 movie “The Family Stone.”

PETA senior vice president Lisa Lange honored Keaton for her advocacy on behalf of animals.

“Diane Keaton’s impact as a brilliant and talented actress is undeniable, but PETA will always remember her as a true friend of animals,” Lange said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
He continued, “She used her platform to support animals at every opportunity, from advocating kindness to often overlooked animals like pigeons, to engaging in abusive cub petting operations by endorsing the Big Cat Public Safety Act, to giving up meat and reminding everyone that eating animals is ‘crazy.’ Diane’s heart was evident in everything she did, and she will be greatly missed by all of us at PETA.”
