‘We are in this together’: Prince Andrew told Epstein

Britain’s Prince Andrew told Jeffrey Epstein “we are in this together” in an email three months after he cut off contact with the pedophile US financier, according to media reports.

The email was sent on February 28, 2011, the day after the famous photo of Andrew and Virginia Giuffre was published, The Sun On Sunday and Mail On Sunday report.

Andrew told BBC Newsnight that he broke off his friendship with Epstein in December 2010.

According to newspapers, the prince wrote in his message: “I’m worried about you too! Don’t worry about me!

“It looks like we’re in this together and we’re going to have to get through it.

“Otherwise stay in close contact and we’ll play some more soon!!!!”

Andrew is said to have signed a contract with “A, HRH The Duke of York, KG”.

He stepped away from his public role in 2019 amid outrage over his friendship with the convicted billionaire pedophile.

He later paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault lawsuit against Giuffre, who was trafficked by Epstein in her youth and whom Andrew claims he has never met.

The Duke of York has always denied any wrongdoing.

In January this year, part of the email was revealed in court documents, which at the time was reported to be from “a member of the royal family.”

The allegation was made by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in court documents for a legal battle against former Barclays chief executive Jes Staley.

Staley disputed the watchdog’s finding that she made a misleading statement about the nature of her relationship with Epstein and denied doing so.

In an amended statement on the case, the FCA said the characteristics of the relationship between Epstein and Staley showed the two were “close” and that emails sent between the pair were “inconsistent with a business relationship.”

These included that Epstein “made numerous introductions and recommendations for Staley,” including to a member of the royal family, and referred to each other as “family” in some emails.

The FCA said: “On 15 June 2010 Mr Epstein emailed a member of the British Royal Family stating: ‘If you can find time to take Jes for a ride with Vera that would be fun, she told me she ran into you tonight.’

“The royal asked who Vera was and stated that she had seen Jes in Harry’s Bar and would contact her in the morning.

“Mr. Epstein responded on June 15, 2010, stating that Vera was ‘my future ex-wife, I know Jes and she would be happy to see her house.’

“The royal family member said he would ‘have dinner with Jes tomorrow night’ on the same date.”

It continued: “On February 27, 2011, Mr. Epstein emailed a member of the British royal family: ‘Jes Staley will be in London next Tuesday afternoon if you have time.’

“The buyer asked the next day, ‘Is Jes coming March 1 or next week?’ he replied. and then discussion of press articles followed by ‘stay in close contact, we’ll be playing some more soon!!!!'”

In an interview with BBC’s Newsnight, Andrew said: “I cut off contact with him (Epstein), I became aware he was under investigation and that was in late 2006 and I wasn’t in contact with him again until 2010.”

He later said in December 2010: “I needed to show leadership, I needed to go see him and tell him, ‘This is it.'”

Epstein was found dead in his cell at a federal prison in Manhattan, US, in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

It was stated that the death was suicide.

Prince Andrew’s office has been contacted for comment.
