Over 500 motorists booked for drunk driving in Cyberabad; KPHB, Medchal top list

A total of 534 drivers were booked for drunk driving during the special weekend enforcement drive conducted by the Cyberabad traffic police.
The highest number of cases were recorded by KPHB (50) and Medchal (50), followed by Shamshabad (49), while Narsingi and Kukatpally reported the lowest with 18 cases.
According to the data shared by the police, the majority of crimes were two-wheeled vehicles with 435 cases, followed by four-wheeled vehicles with 79 cases, three-wheeled vehicles with 18 cases and two cases related to heavy vehicles.
All criminals will be brought before the court. Police warned that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offense and those who cause fatal accidents while driving under the influence of alcohol will be punished under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), which carries a maximum imprisonment of ten years along with fine.
Last week (6-11 October) courts concluded 296 drink driving cases, fined 264 offenders and sentenced 32 to prison; 18 for one day, 11 for two days, and three for three days. Another 35 offenders received social services as part of their sentences.
