Two men have been charged with murder following the death in prison of former Lostprophets singer and convicted child sex offender Ian Watkins.

Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have been charged with murder and will appear at Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, West Yorkshire police said.

Watkins, 48, was serving a 29-year sentence at HMP Wakefield and was due to be sentenced to a further six years after admitting a string of sexual offenses, including the attempted rape of a baby.

Watkins was arrested after a number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices were seized following the execution of a drugs search warrant at his home in Pontypridd on 21 September 2012.
