On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar came out of the police station after a protest against a gang rape of a student at a legal college.
Stating that he rejected the personal bond with bail, BJP State Unit Chief Majumdar said that the police released them for any accusation in the morning.
After leaving the police station in Lalbazar, he told reporters, “Western Bengal has become a democracy killing area.”
BJP leader said that the party would take a “guarantee rejection” movement after that, and those who were detained during agitations will not receive bail from the police stations and insist that they will insist on being produced in court.
He continued: “In eight months, two rape events of educational institutions in the city took place, where is the administration?” RG asked RG Kar Medical College and hospital rape and the murder of a graduate intern and a gang rape of a law student at the university where he worked.
BJP leader, despite the state, a female prime minister, said that criminal incidents against women were unpunished.
Mr. Majumdar, who claimed that these events were only the visible part of the iceberg, claimed that many such events were not reported because of “intimidation and fear”.
The police stopped a BJP rally led by Mr. Majumdar on Saturday and tried to take the protest march to the Southern Kolkata Legal College.
Following Survivor’s complaint, the police arrested the defendants with the other two. According to the police, a college guard was also caught on Saturday morning.
Mr. Majumdar claimed that there was no security for women and that they were not safe in Western Bengal as he prevented him from taking the protest rally.
Union Minister, “We were here to protest the increasing crimes against women. The police did not allow us to have a rally. In addition, the prime minister who holds the home portfolio should take responsibility for the rape of the gang.” He said.
Mr. Majumdar and the other two party leaders refused to sign a bond bond.
Majumdar, “In a month, when I tried to protest against the government, I was arrested four times. Today, I decided not to sign the bail bond for a release … I will spend the whole night to protest against the rise in torture of women.” He said.
Howrah, Bakura, Balurghat and BJP activists in many other places organized demonstrations to support Majumdar’s decision.
Three BJP councilors of the Calcutta Municipality Company-Sagal Ghosh, Mina giant Purohit and Bijoy Ojha-Polis center in front of the back door of the center organized a seating place. Later, they were whipped by a police team.
