Wisconsin couple found dead in car days before wedding anniversary

A Wisconsin couple was found dead in their car just days before celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
The pair were found Oct. 6 when an officer noticed a parked car with its flashers on, the Harvard, Illinois, Police Department said in a news release. When the officer went to look inside the car, they were both found dead. According to the statement made by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, these people were later identified as Rachel Dumovich (29) and Brandon Dumovich (30) from Sharon, Wisconsin. NBC5.
Police said that both people had gunshot wounds and a gun (O) was found in the car. The police department did not release additional details about how the couple died, but said the McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team was activated for the incident.
While police told nearby residents to shelter in place after finding the dead couple, “it was later determined that there was no ongoing threat to the community.”

Rachel said she met Brandon in middle school when she was 12 and caught his attention by “stealing cologne from his locker and running away.”
Sharing that they started dating in 2022, Rachel wrote that the two “stayed in touch through many life stages and 15 years of friendship.”

Brandon proposed at Big Cedar Lake in Slinger, Wisconsin, in the summer of 2023, and the couple were married on October 12, 2024.

“We can’t wait to share the next chapter of our love story with our friends and family!” Rachel wrote while announcing the wedding.
Hours before her death, Rachel posted on Facebook: “Chasing the sunset forever. I wish we could go back to Greece.” It turned out that the post was a reference to the couple’s honeymoon.
