Hopes High In Rayalaseema Ahead Of PM’s Visit

Kurnool: Ruling party leaders are pinning high hopes on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kurnool and Nandyal districts on Thursday.

They expect great support from the center to the region. First of all, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is keen on developing the Shaivite temple of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba at Srisailam. He asked the officials to prepare a Rs 1,657 crore plan for temple-related projects to be submitted to the Prime Minister.

One proposal submitted to the Prime Minister would be to develop a temple corridor at Srisailam on the lines of those built for the Varanasi Vishwanath Swamy temple and the Ujjain Mahankali temple.

The Srisailam temple corridor plan includes construction of a new queue complex at a cost of Rs 90 crore, construction of a Salu Mantapam from Gangadhara Mandapam to Nandi Mandapam at a cost of Rs 65 crore, development of a tank at a cost of Rs 25 crore, development of Kailasa Kshetram at a cost of Rs 25 crore, development of Kailasa Kshetram at a cost of Rs 13 crore It includes the construction of a new Prasadam Pot, a Samuhika Abhisheka Apart from funds earmarked for other works, Mandapam at 10 crore, a bridge between the workshop and Rudra Park at 5 crore, and improvements at Siddaramappa Kolanu at 95 crore.

The development of the region has faced obstacles due to the presence of dense Nallamala forest under central control. Naidu plans to seek the Prime Minister’s support for allocating 5,362 acres of forest land for the temple.

People from Karnataka and Rayalaseema also face travel difficulties to come to the temple using the Atmakur-Dornala route. The state government will seek central approval to declare the road through Nallamala forest as a national highway.

The Telangana government has already sought central approval for an elevated corridor from Amrabad to Domalapenta. Rayalaseema leaders hope that the Prime Minister will announce development projects for the region, including completion of pending major irrigation projects.

Industry minister TG Bharath said on Monday that the Prime Minister was aware that Kurnool, once the capital of the state, was lagging behind in many sectors. “The CM is also trying to develop the area. Plans are to build a five-star hotel in Srisailam and develop an industrial corridor from Anantapur to Kurnool.

Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari said the Prime Minister’s visit will change the rules for the district and the Srisailam temple. Saying that AP has benefited greatly from the GST 2.0 reforms, he expressed hope that UPM’s visit will help in the development of the backward Nandyal and Kurnool regions.

Modi is expected to address a public meeting in Orvakal focusing on Nandyal and overall development of the Rayalaseema region.
