Actress Keira Knightley said she was “unaware” of fans’ calls to boycott the new “Harry Potter” Full Cast audiobooks and was “very sorry.”

Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the film series, made a veiled criticism of Rowling in 2020 after the author began speaking against transgender ideology. Rowling criticized a report that referred to women as “menstruating people” in a viral post on her former Twitter handle, X.

“I want my trans followers to know that I, and so many people around the world, see you, respect you, and love you for who you are,” Watson said in response to Rowling at the time.

“I truly don’t believe that having had this experience and having the love, support and views that I have, means that I can’t care for and value Jo. Chris Columbus, director of the first two “Harry Potter” movies, also called out Rowling in an interview in September. He said he wished he could direct a film adaptation of Rowling’s play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” but his differences with the cast made that “impossible.”
