Former Vice President Kamala Harris said Saturday in an interview with former CNN host Don Lemon that she had spoken to people who voted for President Donald Trump and told them they thought they were lied to about his illegal immigration enforcement.
“I’ve talked to a lot of people who say, ‘So what’s going on in terms of these raids and the fear that it’s creating in these communities?’, People who voted for Trump say: ‘We thought he would only go after people he said were criminals, but he goes after hard-working people.’ And they feel like they’ve been lied to.” Harris told Lemon.
While on tour in Chicago, Harris and Lemon promoted her memoir, “107 Days,” about her failed 2024 election campaign. The title refers to the shortened time she had after then-President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her as a replacement candidate.
“And, you know, there are a lot of people who feel like they were lied to because he lied to a lot of people,” he said, arguing that Americans voted for Trump because he promised to lower prices before accusing the president of lying again.

Harris told Lemon she thought Americans needed a break and declared they were ready to “take action” before touting a “No to Kings” protest.
“I think people will come out in large numbers, from different generations, to say that we know we deserve better and that we want more from our government rather than the weaponization of the rule of law. We want more from the corruption, the insensitivity, and frankly the incompetence that we see coming from the White House,” he said.
Lemon praised the former vice president and praised the book while saying he was proud of him.
While promoting her memoir, Harris harshly criticized Trump; This article received mixed to negative reviews as it blamed a wide range of people and factors for his defeat.

In an interview aired Sunday on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Harris argued that the recent indictments of former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James show Trump is waging a “campaign of revenge” using the federal government against those who oppose him.
When MSNBC host Eugene Daniels asked if Americans could trust the Justice Department, Harris said she didn’t believe they could.
