Gosnells Women’s Collective: Makers market perfect place for unique gifts while supporting women

A group formed to provide women with practical skills and connect with the community will launch the Makers Market this month.
The Gosnells Women’s Collective event will feature live demonstrations and stallholders from across Perth will showcase their handmade creations, from jewelery and woodwork to candles, pet accessories, books and decor items.
President Krystelle Wall said the market was inspired by the creativity in the community.
“We wanted to create a welcoming space to showcase the talents of local women and other community makers, celebrate artisanal craftsmanship and strengthen local connections,” she said.
“Funds raised for Gosnells Women’s Collective will help run inclusive workshops and events, provide supplies and equipment, support the participation of women in need, support volunteer training and provide a welcoming community space where local women can connect, learn and grow.”
The group plans to make the market a regular event to promote makers and artisans in Perth.
“We aim to expand our workshops, deepen community connections, increase our capacity and establish a community sharing shed, a library of tools that encourages practical learning, resource sharing and sustainability,” Ms Wall said.
GWC was founded in 2022 and opened in April 2024. It is a non-profit organization created to empower and support women while providing a space to try new things and build lasting friendships.
It organizes a variety of regular social events and workshops to equip women with practical skills.
Previous workshops include acrylic and watercolor painting; plumbing basics; woodworking; Winter preparedness and emergency planning hosted by the Red Cross; strength and balance workshops; and advance care planning with Palliative Care WA.
“Many women in our community face social isolation, limited access to affordable wellbeing activities, and a lack of spaces designed for them to grow and connect,” Ms Wall said.
“The Collective aims to overcome these challenges by providing an inclusive, supportive environment where women can develop their skills, share their experiences and belong.”
The market will be held at 27 Birchington Street, Beckenham, on Saturday 26 October from 9am to 4pm. Entry is free.
