Diane Keaton’s family thank public for ‘love and support’ after actress’s death

Actress Diane Keaton’s family has thanked fans for their “outstanding messages of love and support” following the actress’ death at the age of 79.

Keaton’s family said in a statement to People magazine that the death of the Oscar-winning actor was due to pneumonia.

Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s for his work in The Godfather films, and also starred in Father of the Bride, Something’s Gotta Give, The First Wives’ Club, and Annie Hall, for which he won an Academy Award in 1978.

The actress’ death in California on Saturday prompted a flood of tributes from Hollywood legends, including her co-stars from some of her most popular films.

In a statement to People magazine, which first reported Keaton’s death, “The Keaton family is very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received over the last few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11.” The statement was included.

The BBC has sought comment from the actor’s representatives.

Pneumonia is a lung infection that can be caused by many different microbes, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some people are thought to be at higher risk because of their age or any underlying health problems.

In the statement, the Keaton family also asked that any donations or support be directed to causes important to the actor, especially local food banks or animal shelters.

Among those who have paid tribute to Keaton in recent days is First Wives Club co-star Goldie Hawn, who said Keaton left “a trail of pixie dust filled with shards of light and memories beyond imagination.” Bette Midler, who starred with the duo in the film, described Keaton as “brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary.”

Steve Martin, who starred alongside Keaton in Father of the Bride with Martin Short, republished a quote from a magazine article Short cited: “Who’s sexier, me or Steve Martin?”

Keaton replies: “So you’re both idiots.” “I don’t know who posted this first, but it sums up our joyful relationship with Diane,” Martin wrote in his post.

During his career spanning more than five decades, Keaton appeared in dozens of other films, including The Family Stone, Because I Said So, and So It Goes, as well as a number of Woody Allen films, including Play It Again, Sam, Sleeper, Love and Death, and Manhattan.

Keaton won the Academy Award for Best Actress, as well as the Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award for her role in Annie Hall.

Throughout her illustrious career, Keaton was nominated for three more Oscars – all in the best actress category – for her work in Something’s Gotta Give, Marvin’s Room and Reds.

In addition to his acting achievements, Keaton was also known for his distinctive style, preferring to wear turtleneck sweaters, hats, and thick-rimmed glasses.

This style was even referenced in the movie Something’s Gotta Give, where Keaton tells Jack Nicholson’s character that she’s “just a turtleneck girl.”
