TikTok, Meta and Snap to face social media ban inquiry

TikTok, Snap and Meta will face a parliamentary inquiry into Australia’s youth social media ban and search engine rules after senators threatened to force tech giants to appear legal.
The Senate Inquiry into the Environment and Communications Internet Search Engine Services Online Security Code will hold another public hearing on 28 October to examine the implementation of Australia’s new internet regulations.
These new regulations include a social media minimum age policy that will force social media platforms to take “reasonable steps” to prevent Australians under 16 from having accounts.
