‘Dangal’ star Zaira Wasim ties the knot, shares first photos with husband

Although he did not share a clear photo, the newlyweds have their backs to the camera while watching the moon.

Dangal actress Zaira Wasim, who left Bollywood years ago, surprised everyone by sharing photos from her wedding ceremony.

The former player shared two photos on his Instagram account; One is of the nikaah nama she signed, and the other is with her husband.

Although he did not share a clear photo, the newlyweds have their backs to the camera while watching the moon.

She looked beautiful in her red bridal lehenga.

Zaira Wasim became an instant sensation after making her debut in the 2016 film Dangal. Her performance as the young wrestler Geeta Phogat in the movie starring Aamir Khan, which became one of the biggest hits in the history of Indian cinema, fascinated both critics and audiences at the age of 16.

She began a seemingly incredible career when she won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her emotional depth and natural screen presence.

Zaira followed this with a much-lauded performance in Advait Chandan’s 2017 film Secret Superstar.

Starring Aamir Khan, Meher Vij and Raj Arjun, the musical drama tells the story of a young girl who is determined to follow her dream of singing despite social and family restrictions. With her performance that is both tough and fragile, she has become one of Bollywood’s most promising young talents.

However, just when it seemed that her career would never end, Zaira made a decision that shocked the film industry. He announced his retirement from acting in 2019, deciding to leave the limelight and focus on his spiritual and religious path.

Explaining that acting no longer aligned with her faith or personal beliefs, she wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post, “I want to admit that I was truly dissatisfied with this identity, my job. I felt like I had been trying to be someone else for so long.”

His decision sparked widespread controversy; some praised her courage to follow her heart, while others expressed sadness at the loss of such a promising artist. But Zaira remained adamant and later shared another thoughtful note in which she acknowledged the dangers of fame and admiration.

“While I humbly accept all the love that people have shown me, I cannot emphasize enough how unsatisfactory the praise that has come my way has been to me, what a great test it has been for me, and how dangerous it has been to my Faith,” he wrote.
