Thousands flock to The Everest, Caulfield Cup as spring racing season kicks off

Thousands of Sydneysiders and Melburnians flocked to Royal Randwick Racecourse and Caulfield Racecourse to celebrate the start of the spring racing season.
Nearly 50,000 punters packed Randwick racecourse on Saturday and raced through the gates to find the perfect spot to watch one of the country’s most iconic races, the Everest.
This year’s participants, with approximately 50,000 people filling the race course, will also be among the youngest participants, with 60 percent of them under the age of 26.

Participants make up much of this year’s theme
Everest’s theme this year is “Touch of Blue” and participants are making the most of it by wearing their best suits and dresses in cool tones.

Those who break the rules show some skin
Since the majority of participants are under the age of 26, it is no surprise that some rules are broken.
The punters went all out in their dresses, breaking the traditional spring race dress code by showing off some skin with high slits and low-cut skin.
Draped dresses and silky, floral fabrics were some of the most popular choices; There were lots of bright colors to match the energy of the crowd.
There were many cut-cut dresses on the field today, some participants replaced their long dresses with mini dresses.

Hats thrown out the window
Unlike the Melbourne Cup, where headgear rules prevailed, heads were mostly bare on the racetrack; attendees swapped their hats and fascinators for slick-backed donuts and green hats handed out at the doors.

Celebrities were stunned on the field
Some of the country’s biggest stars headed to the Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, ready for fun as their horses came out of the gates.
AFL legend Brendan Fevola and his wife Alex coordinated their outfits for the day, both wearing suits, opting for traditional race day attire.
Count Nikolai of Monpezat was also in attendance and the Danish royal attended the second race day in Sydney, wearing a dark blue oversized suit.
Kate Waterhouse wowed the crowd in her ice blue Mariam Daddiq gown, complete with ’80s-inspired shoulders and a ruffled skirt.
She told The Daily Telegraph she went “all in” with the year’s theme and used the subtle shade “from head to toe”.

Caulfield Cup attracts stylish crowd
The Caulfield Cup is in full swing in Melbourne, with thousands of people flocking to the racetrack to celebrate the start of three major races.
Even though the weather was quite windy in Melbourne today, the participants brought the sunshine with their bright and colorful dresses.

Race participants wore big and flashy hats, illuminating the race track with red, orange and yellow colors.
Just like in Sydney, younger participants keep their look much more casual than in previous years by removing their hats altogether.

The windy weather couldn’t stop the smiles on the race track as the bettors watched their horses race.
