United plane clips tail of another aircraft at Chicago’s O’Hare airport | United Airlines

Authorities said a United Airlines plane heading towards its gate clipped the tail of another United plane at Chicago O’Hare airport.
United officials said in a statement that no one was injured in Friday’s incident and the 113 passengers on Flight 2652 from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, were able to exit the plane normally after a delay.
Runway collisions like this could raise concerns about aviation safety after recent crashes and near misses, including the deadliest U.S. plane crash in decades in January when an army helicopter was preparing to land at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
In early October, two Delta Air Lines regional jets collided at the intersection of taxiways at New York’s LaGuardia airport, injuring a flight attendant.
In Friday’s incident, the second United plane’s horizontal stabilizer was struck and did not move when the planes hit, officials said.
Bill Marcus, a passenger on the plane from Wyoming, said he didn’t even notice anything until the pilot said there would be a delay to document something and passengers on the plane saw a large number of people gathered around the right wing.
“I was shocked when they separated the planes that although there was a little tremor, I didn’t feel anything more,” Marcus said. CBS News Chicago. He said it took about 40 more minutes for the plane to reach the gate.
