Much has been made recently about the Prince and Princess of Wales’ plans to move into Forest Lodge, which they have dubbed their “forever home”. Kate is personally handling the renovation and interior work, and staff have already begun the inevitable task of moving her belongings from Adelaide Cottage to the new location.

The three-mile move is understood to be “imminent” as finishing touches are being put on the eight-bedroom Georgian mansion. While space is certainly a factor in relocating, the most important reason is to allow the family to have a “fresh start.” A well-placed royal source said that Kate and William have moved on in a bid to turn over a new leaf, as the last few years have been fraught with personal difficulties.

“It’s not just about that [Kate’s] “The Queen died while living in Adelaide and there have been attacks from California,” an insider said, adding, “They both want a fresh start and moving to Forest Lodge gives them that.”

This move will be a chance for them to create new, happy memories together as a family and leave the past behind. They are expected to be fully moved in before the prince flies to Brazil next month to host the annual ceremony for the environmental award.

While Kate is keen to join her husband in Rio, she will stay at home with the children to ensure the spotlight remains on the Earthshot trophy and to help Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, get settled.

However, a royal source said plans were in place for the future king and queen to travel abroad together next year, with details to be announced in due course.

Australia was discussed after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was “hopeful” they would visit “sometime in the future”. But since the trip Down Under will likely require the children to come along, a shorter trip closer to home is likely to happen first, meaning it should coincide with the school holidays.

But I’m sure we would all welcome the future king and queen’s tour, wherever it may be.

Andrew problem solved?

There was a sense of relief at Buckingham Palace this weekend after Prince Andrew finally gave up his remaining royal privileges.

He has lost the title of Duke of York, given to him by his mother, and will no longer be a Knight of the Order of the Garter.

While proud Andrew finds it incredibly difficult to accept that the game is over, the King is “delighted” that the harrowing saga is finally over.

The endless scandals that marred the important work of the Royal Family were too much to bear.

This week marked a significant turning point and strengthened the monarch’s resolve to ensure the “Andrew issue” is properly addressed.

The decision was made after speaking to his brother on the phone from Scotland on Friday.

The Prince of Wales, who has been pushing for such an outcome for a long time, gave his full support to this move.

The only positive thing about Andrew is that they can’t evict him from his home, the Royal Lodge.

He’ll keep the keys as long as he can afford the rent and maintenance.

The family hope Andrew, who is said to be no longer welcome at any Christmas events at Sandringham, will no longer attract more attention than before.

But I’m sure we can expect photos of a waif prince riding around Windsor Manor in the coming weeks.

Vatican state visit

I will fly back to Rome next week for the King’s two-day state visit to the Vatican. This will be extremely important as Charles will be the first monarch to pray with the Pope in public service since the Reformation.

He will also have the title of Royal Sibling of St Paul’s Basilica Outside the Walls, a historic tribute to the work of the King who found common ground between faiths.

The trip was originally planned for April in connection with a state visit to Italy, but was postponed due to Pope Francis’ health condition.

Sources say the trip is “hugely important to the King personally” because of his work to bring together people from different faiths and communities.

Earl Spencer unknown

Earl Spencer looks a lot different these days. Princess Diana’s younger brother Charles spent six months sober. He once talked about using alcohol to “numb everything”, but after deciding to quit drinking for a few weeks, he didn’t look back. “I’ve never felt this good,” he wrote on social media.

However, it seems that giving up booze has had more than an impact on his well-being, as in a photo featuring a pint of Guinness Zero, Charles looks quite dapper. He thanks girlfriend Cat Jarman for supporting him during his “happy transformation.”

Thank you

I wrote a personal piece in Friday’s Daily Express about my mental health crisis in 2016, following the Prince of Wales film about suicide.

I have been completely surprised by the positive response to the article, which has been flooded with messages since it was published. It means so much that people are empowered by my story and that it sparks an important conversation.

So thank you to everyone who has reached out to me, it means the world and it will definitely take some time to process and read everyone’s kind words.
