Odisha Man Kills Youth for Allegedly Assaulting Daughter

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly beat a youth to death after catching him sexually assaulting his daughter in Akhuapada panchayat under Parjang police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district late on Saturday night.

It was reported that the defendant, whose name was identified as Rupa Pingua from Mohanpashi village, surrendered to the police shortly after the incident.

The deceased was identified as Karunakar Behera, son of Kashinath Behera, resident of Colony No. 1 under Akhuapada panchayat. According to sources, Karunakar was working as a JCB assistant in Mohanpashi village for the last three days.

Police sources said Rupa allegedly caught Karunakar sexually assaulting her daughter. In a fit of rage, Rupa attacked him with a sharp weapon, leading to his death. After the attack, the accused is said to have dumped the body near a canal before surrendering to Dadaraghati police station.

Meanwhile, family members of the deceased claimed that Karunakar was brutally murdered and demanded a thorough investigation. Police said an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the incident.
